Women's Tennis Sweeps Savannah State, 7-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team won 6-of-6 singles matches and captured the doubles point to remain undefeated after earning its sixth win of the season defeating Savannah State, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
JU (6-0) freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) won at No. 1 singles in two sets defeating Neikelle Lashley, 6-1, 6-0. Sulyos captured her 10th win of the season while remaining undefeated in tournament and regular-season play. Sophomore Veronika Subertova (Bratislava, Slovakia) who took the No. 2 singles match defeated Asha Richards, 6-3, 6-0, while improving to 5-1 in regular season play. Sophomore Martina Strussova (Bratislava, Slovakia) earned her first win of the season defeating Karen Richards, 6-4, 6-1. Also taking singles matches were senior Kim Packer (Adelaide, S. Australia) over Tracy Modeste at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0) and junior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablance, Morocco) over Christian Simms at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0).
Strussova and Hajbane combined for the first time to take No. 1 doubles defeating A. Richards and K. Richards, 8-2. Packer and Subertova also came together for the first time capturing No. 2 doubles over Lashley and Modeste, 8-0.
JU will play Gardner-Webb on Saturday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
