Women's Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Win Over American University

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team won 5-of-6 singles matches and captured the doubles point to continue perfect play after earning its ninth win of the season defeating American University, 6-1, Monday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
JU (9-0) freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) won at No. 1 singles in two sets defeating Kristina Georgieva, 6-3, 6-2. Sulyos remains undefeated this season while capturing her 13th win. Sophomore Veronika Subertova (Bratislava, Slovakia) who took the No. 2 singles match defeated Katarina Kollarova, 3-6, 6-4, 10-1, while improving to 8-1 in regular-season play. Also taking singles matches were senior Kim Packer (Adelaide, S. Australia) over Ashley Retlev at No. 4 (6-2, 6-3) and junior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablance, Morocco) over Julia Colausso at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2). Senior Kristina Puck (Hamburg, Germany) defeated Tessa Hollyn-Taub at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0, to remain undefeated in regular-season play.
Sulyos and Subertova combined to take No. 1 doubles, defeating Georgieva and Kolloarova, 8-5. Puck and Strussova also came together No. 2 doubles over Zerkalova and Colausso, 9-7, while Hajbane and Packer defeated Retlev and Hollyn-Taub at No. 3 doubles, 8-1
JU will play UT-Chattanooga on Tuesday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
