Women's Tennis Falls to Troy State, 4-1 in A-Sun Semifinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The women's tennis team fell to the No. 4 seed Troy State, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center, ending a remarkable season in which the Dolphins went 14-2 during the regular season and entered the Atlantic Sun Championship as the No. 1 seed.

Freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) and Veronika Subertova (Bratislava, Slovakia) earned an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles to begin the match, but Troy State rebounded to take the next two doubles matches along with the doubles point.

The Trojans followed their doubles victory with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles before Sulyos helped the Dolphins rebound with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Troy State iced the match with a win at No. 3 singles, ending the Dolphins' historic season.

JU ends the season 15-2 overall, having earned a No. 75 ITA ranking at various times during the season. Sulyos finished the year 20-0 at No. 1 singles in dual matches.
