Women's Tennis Takes Fifth in Doubles Draw at Lady Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's tennis duo of senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) took fifth place in the Flight No. 1 Doubles draw at the 2004 Lady Seminole Classic, held at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

Hajbane and Willi dropped their first match together to USF's Liz Cruz and Fabiana Taverna before topping Stetson's Milica Milovanovic and Maja Miladinovic, 9-7 to advance to the fifth-place match. The Dolphins prevailed, 9-7, over the team of Kristina Lohmos and Kyla McNichol of UCF to take the consolation bracket win.

Both played in singles action, with Willi dropping in Flight No. 3 Singles to Martina Strussova of Bethune-Cookman, 6-1, 6-1. Hajbane, in Flight No. 4, fell to BCC's Lucia Polakova, 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round and dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Stetson's Marina Levin.

JU opens the spring season on Sunday, Jan. 23 against Wofford at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
