Women's Tennis Wins Spring Opener, 4-1, Over Wofford

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's tennis team won a 4-1 decision over Wofford at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex in the Dolphins' first match of the season. JU moves to 1-0 on the season while Wofford falls to 0-2.
JU took the doubles points, winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) defeated the Terriers' Delaine Hare and Laura Lynn Williams, 8-6, at the No. 2 position, while junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, British Columbia) and sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) won the No. 3 doubles point with an 8-4 decision over Tara Hartness and Adriane Hodges. The Dolphins fell at the No. 1 doubles position, 8-6, as Wofford's Ellen Rogers and Sarah Shelley defeated JU's team of Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France) and Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland).
JU cruised to wins at the top three singles positions, with Sulyos winning 6-3, 6-2 over Rogers at No. 1. Willi took a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Shelley at the second position, while Bourot defeated Williams 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Wofford picked up its only point at the fifth position, as Hartness defeated Antonioli 6-2, 6-3.
JU travels to Tallahassee to take on No. 31 Florida State on Sat., Jan. 29., at 1 p.m.
