Women's Tennis Loses to Davidson, 4-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) took one of three victories for the Dolphin in singles play, but JU dropped a 4-3 decision to Davidson in women's tennis action at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.
JU (2-5, 0-3 A-Sun) was swept in doubles for just the second time this year. JU's tandem of senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) moved up to the top doubles spot but fell, 8-5, to Jacksonville natives Kelly and Meghan Fillnow. The Wildcats' Kelsey Linville and Meggie Patterson downed freshman Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland) and Sulyos, 8-4, at No. 2, while Dolphin freshman Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France) and junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, B.C.) dropped an 8-5 decision to Davidson's Sarah Borkowski and Kim Whelan.
The Dolphins evened up the match when Sulyos took a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Kelly Fillnow at the top singles spot before Davidson (7-3) clinched the victory with wins at No. 2, 3, and 6. Patterson downed Willi at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2, while Linville bested Bourot in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 6-0, at the third spot. Whelan's win at No. 6 over Williams clinched the match, with Whelan taking the 4-6, 7-6, 6-0 decision. JU kept fighting, taking three-set victories at No. 4 and 5, as Hajbane defeated Meghan Fillnow, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 at the fourth spot and Antonioli downed Kate Levitt, 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 5.
The Dolphins meet Campbell on Saturday, March 5 at the Armstrong Atlantic State University Tennis Courts in Savannah, Ga.
