Women's Tennis Pick Up First Conference Win, 6-1, over Campbell

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) won her second straight 6-0, 6-0 decision at the top singles spot to help lead the JU women's tennis team to a 6-1 win over Campbell Saturday afternoon at the Armstrong Atlantic State Tennis Complex. The Dolphins move to 3-5 on the season, 1-4 in Atlantic Sun play, while Campbell falls to 2-8, 1-2 in conference action.
The Dolphins won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. JU's tandem of senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) downed the Fighting Camels' Georgiana Marta and Scarlet Alfonzo, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles, while Sulyos and junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, B.C.) defeated Kathleen Rollet and Iva Stojancev, 8-1, at the third doubles spot. Campbell's Nina Surviladze and Stacey Batkiewicz took a 9-7 decision over the Dolphins' freshmen Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland) and Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France) at the second spot. JU is undefeated when winning the doubles point (3-0).
Sulyos has two straight matches without dropping a game now, downing Marta at the top spot, 6-0, 6-0. Willi took a 6-1, 6-4 win over Surviladze in No. 2 singles, while Hajbane got her second straight victory with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Stojancev at the fourth spot. Antonioli beat Rollet, 6-1, 6-1 at the fifth spot, while Williams got her second win for the Dolphins over Batkiewicz, 6-2, 6-2, at the sixth spot. Bourot dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Alfonzo at No. 3 singles.
JU hosts Michigan State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts.
