Women's Tennis Fall to East Tennessee State, 4-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team got wins for the fourth straight match from the trio of senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco), sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany), but the Dolphins could not muster another win as they dropped a 4-3 decision to future Atlantic Sun opponent East Tennessee State at the Alexander Brest Tennis Center. The Dolphins fall to 4-7 on the season, while the Bucs move to 10-3.
The Dolphins lost the doubles point, getting the team's only win at No. 1 from Hajbane and Willi, who downed Masha Ilina and Slywia Ziolkowska, 9-8. The Bucs' Sandie Knight and Elana Volobueva got a 8-1 decision over JU's freshmen tandem of Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France) and Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland), 8-1, at No. 2, while Sulyos and junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, B.C.) fell to Olya Batsula and Gemma Halem, 8-4, at the third spot.
JU got wins at the top two spots as Sulyos defeated Ilina, 6-3, 6-2, at the top spot while Willi downed Knight, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Hajbane defeated Ziolkowska at the fourth spot, 6-4, 6-2, before East Tennessee State responded. Halim took a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Williams at No. 6, while Batsula beat Antonioli at the fifth spot, 6-3, 6-4. The Bucs finished off the win at No. 3, as Volobueva won a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Bourot.
JU hosts Tennessee-Martin on Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader with the men's squad at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts.
