Women's Tennis Tames Wyoming, 5-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) was among four Dolphins to pick up singles wins as the JU women's tennis team downed Wyoming, 5-2, Monday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins (5-8) won the doubles point with wins in No. 1 and 3 doubles. Sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) and junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, B.C.) downed Gwen Moser and Andrea House, 8-6, at the third spot, while Hajbane and freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) teamed up to take a 8-6 win over Corina Lazar and Amy Senko. The Cowgirls got their lone win at No. 2, where Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien defeated JU freshmen Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland) and Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France), 8-4.
Wyoming tied up the match with Lazar's 6-0, 6-2 win over Bourot in No. 3 singles, but JU would take the next four matches to clinch the win. Hajbane picked up her seventh straight win, defeating Senko, 6-1, 6-1, at the fourth spot, while Antonioli ended a two-match losing streak with a 6-2, 6-0 win over House at No. 5. Sulyos dispatched of Chien, 6-3, 6-3, for her eighth straight win at the top spot, as Willi won a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Rowinski at No. 2, her sixth straight win for JU. The Cowgirls' Michelle Brown got Wyoming's final point, beating Williams, 7-6, 6-2, on court No. 6.
JU, in the midst of a nine-match homestand, take on Utah tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts.
