March 15, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) has earned Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Player-of-the-Week honors, the conference office announced Tuesday. It is the third time the Dolphins have won the award this year and the first time in Hajbane's four years that she has received Player-of-the-Week accolades. This marks the second straight week a Dolphin has taken the title, with sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) taking home the honor last week.

Hajbane, who has a seven-match winning streak, went 4-0 last week, dropping only 10 games in those matches. She opened the week with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Appalachian State's Alexandra Grate and continued with a 6-0, 6-1 win over East Tennessee State's Sylwia Ziolokowska. She downed UT-Martin's Katrina Domela, 6-4, 6-3 before finishing with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wyoming's Amy Senko.

JU continues its home stand Wednesday with a 1 p.m. match against Houston on the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts.
