Women's Tennis Downs Savannah State, 6-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team needed just 35 minutes to defeat Savannah State, 6-0, Thursday morning at the Alexander Brest Tennis Courts. The Dolphins, who move above .500 for the first time since mid-February, stand at 10-9.

The Dolphins dominated play on all the courts, losing only one game in the match. Sophomore Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) took a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 over the Tigers' Asha Richards, while freshman Lena Willi (Freiburg, Germany) won the match at No. 2 by default. Senior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) downed Karen Richards at the third spot, 6-0, 6-1, while freshman Daphne Bourot (Lyon, France) won a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Tracey Modeste on Court No. 4. Freshman Dana Antonioli (Bienne, Switzerland) got a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jennifer Steward at the fifth spot, with junior Megan Williams (New Westminster, B.C.) defeated Savannah State's Jernisha Davis, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.

JU opens up play in the 2005 Atlantic Sun Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday, April 14 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
