Women's Tennis downs Georgia Southern 5-2

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Dolphins (2-2, 1-1 A-Sun) came out fighting Saturday, as they took on the Georgia Southern Eagles (2-2), 5-2. Jacksonville came out fighting in doubles play as they swept the Eagles.

In the No. 1 spot, Emese Sulyos and Iva Jaresova defeated Kristi Kegerreis and Heather Reynolds, 8-3, while No. 2 Lena Willi and Fernanda Carrero defeated Molly Maddox and Christine Caforio, 8-2, and No. 3 Tatiana Soldatova and Maria Paiva-Flor defeated Jessica Matlosz and Jessica Fuller, 8-6.

In singles play, No. 1 Sulyos defeated Maddos, 6-0, 6-1, No. 2 Willi defeated Kegerreis (6-1, 6-3), No. 3 Soldatov defeated Reynolds (6-3, 6-0). As the Dolphins continued singles play, No. 4 Carrero defeated Shea Huxtable (4-6, 6-3, 6-3). Georgia Southern earned their only two points as Knight defeats Paiva-Flor (0-6, 6-3, 10-4) and Jaresova defaulted to Wolken.

"I could see definite improvement in the way the Dolphins played from yesterday," said head coach Jarod Camerota. "As the season continues I hope this type of improvement continues."

The Dolphins will continue action on Saturday, Feb. 10 at UCF.
