Lena Willi named A-Sun Player of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In the final week of conference play for Jacksonville, the Dolphins clinched a share of their first ever regular season title and Lena Willi finished A-Sun play with a perfect 8-0 mark, earning wins over Belmont and Lipscomb en route to being named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week.

Willi, a junior from Freiburg, Germany, defeated Belmont's Elizabeth Conyer in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and then dropped Lipscomb's Erin Moakler 6-1, 6-0. Losing just one game all week, Willi improved to 18-3 overall, including a perfect 8-0 record in conference action. Willi is currently riding a 12-match winning streak, the longest active streak in the Atlantic Sun.

The 2005 Freshman-of-the-Year is being honored as the Player of the Week for the second time in her career. Willi was last honored on April 12, 2005.
