Women's Tennis advances to Atlantic Sun Championship

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The stellar season continues as the Jacksonville women's tennis team is the first team to advance to the Championship round at the 2007 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Tennis Championships. The No. 1 seed Lady Dolphins ousted No. 5 seed Belmont by a score of 4-0 extending their winning streak to 15 matches.

JU fought hard and secured the doubles point by taking No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Dolphin's No. 1 doubles team of Emese Sulyos and Lena Willi defeated Belmont's April Bradley and Tatiana Pozo 9-7. In No. 2 doubles, JU's Tatiana Soldatova and Iva Jaresova beat Elizabeth Conyer and Katie Rhodes 8-5.

The Dolphins dominated in singles play to lock up the victory. Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Emese Sulyos beat Linda Johansson of Belmont 6-1, 6-0. Iva Jaresova downed April Bradley 6-2, 6-1 and Cristinia Paiva-Flor won the final point for JU by defeating Kelly Pence 6-2, 6-0.

The Dolphins advance to the Finals and will face the winner between No. 2 seed ETSU and No. 3 seed Stetson at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
