Volleyball Falls to Syracuse at War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - Sophomore outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) had a team-high 15 kills, while junior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) added 10 kills, nine digs and three blocks, but Syracuse used an efficient offensive attack to defeat the undermanned Dolphins, 3-0 (30-25, 30-24, 30-21), Sunday afternoon at the War Eagle Invitational. Dimitrova was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording 42 kills and 33 digs in three matches.

The Dolphins fall to 0-6 on the season, while the Syracuse improves to 4-3.

Senior setter Carrie Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) had six kills and seven digs while handing out 34 assists for JU, Syracuse used 17 blocks to thwart the Dolphin attack. Laura Koster led the Orangewomen with 15 kills and 14 digs, while hitting .480 for the match. Ashley Kimes added 10 kills and Noreen Carrol had six blocks for Syracuse.

Jacksonville returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. before opening its home schedule with the JU Invitational Sept. 14-16 at the University of North Florida.
