JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's and women's golf teams had Christmas come a little late this year.

The Dolphins have added a new home course to their stable - the prestigious Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS.

"This was a great opportunity for golf programs to get one of the finest, if not the finest, facilities in the world," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "Our student-athletes now have access to one of the premier golfing venues, which will give them the opportunity to hone their game on a tough layout as well as a great practice facility."

The deal with the TPC at Sawgrass enhances the Dolphins home facilities in and around Jacksonville. JU also plays and practices at Hidden Hills Country Club, Windsor Parke Golf Club, Timuquana Country Club, Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, The Palencia Club, St. Johns Golf & Country Club, Marsh Landing Country Club, Jacksonville Beach Golf Course and Deerwood Country Club.

"Adding the TPC at Sawgrass to our rotation of home venues gives us a lot of different ways to prepare for tournaments on the differing layouts," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "We are always appreciative of each course for making their facility open to us and making us feel at home.

"This also enhances our recruiting package as our facilities are now on par with most any program in the country."
