JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Strong performances from senior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and junior outside hitter Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) were not enough to halt a red-hot North Florida squad, as the Dolphins fell 3-0 (19-30, 21-30, 22-30) Wednesday night at UNF Arena. Dimitrova, averaging 4.17 kills per game this season, recorded a team-best 10 kills for the match, while Ryals led the Dolphins with 21 digs.
JU had the unenviable task of facing the streaking Ospreys, winners of nine of their last ten matches and undefeated at home this season. The Dolphins came out of the gate slowly, dropping the first two games, but rallied in the third to lead near the midway point. Strong performances from Jackie Struck and Jessica Bosacki, combining for 32 kills and 22 digs, helped the Ospreys fight back, closing out the game and ending the match.
JU continues play at home on Friday, Sept. 26, when it hosts the Stetson Hatters at 7:30 p.m. in Swisher Gymnasium.
