CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) recorded a double-double with a game-high 16 kills and 14 digs, while junior outside hitter Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.) double-dipped with 10 kills and 12 digs to propel the visiting Dolphins to a 3-1 (30-17, 23-30, 30-23, 30-20) victory over the Charlotte 49ers (6-14) Sunday afternoon in Halton Arena. The Dolphins (6-10, 2-0 A-Sun) run their season-best winning streak to five matches and have lost just three of their last 16 games.
Sophomore setter Erin Donivan (Sarsota, Fla.) added 40 assists and 12 digs, while freshman outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) recorded 16 digs in the victory. Dimitrova hit .250 for the match and is averaging a team-best 4.06 kills per game this season.
The Dolphins stormed to victory in the first game, 30-17, but Charlotte recovered to even the score in the second with a 30-23 win. Accurate hitting and sensational defensive efforts by Dimitrova, Rose, Donivan and Stoilova gave the Dolphins a 30-23 win in the third game and a 30-20 victory to close out the fourth.
JU began its three-game road trip with Atlantic Sun conference wins against Campbell and Gardner-Webb before defeating Charlotte on Sunday. The Dolphins travel to Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, Oct. 7, to take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.
