JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) had 17 kills, 18 digs and four blocks to lead a balanced JU attack as the Dolphins downed Troy State, 3-1 (30-27, 30-27, 16-30, 30-22), for their 10th-straight win Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium. With the win, JU improves to 11-10 overall and a school-record 5-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Troy State falls to 8-9 overall, 1-5 in the A-Sun.
Freshman Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and junior Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.) added 13 kills each, while sophomore middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) had 11 kills, five blocks and three aces. Sophomore setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) paced the JU attack with 58 assists and 18 digs. The Dolphins hit .500 in the fourth and deciding game with 19 kills and just four errors.
Following a 30-27 win in game one, JU trailed 24-16 in the second game when Neville sparked the Dolphins with nine straight service points to take a 25-24 lead and eventually win the game. Troy State dominated game three hitting .391, but the Dolphins jumped out an early 4-0 lead in the final game and relied on seven consecutive service points from Dimitrova to extend a one-point lead to 29-21.
The Dolphins return to action on Friday, Oct. 24, at Mercer at 7 p.m., before facing second-place Georgia State in Atlanta on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m.
