Nov. 1, 2003

Final Stats

DELAND, Fla. - Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) had a team-high 12 kills and four blocks, while senior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and freshman outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) each had nine kills, to go along with 13 and 12 digs respectively, as the Dolphins won, 3-0, over Stetson in Atlantic Sun volleyball action, Saturday in the Edmunds Center. The win improves JU to 14-11 overall and 7-1 in the A-Sun, while Stetson drops to 4-17, with a 2-6 conference mark.

Consistent play through the first two games gave JU wins of 30-25 and 30-24, but it took costly errors by the Hatters in the third game to help the Dolphins, who hit just .062 in the final frame, to a 30-25 edge and the sweep.

The win puts the Dolphins in a tie for second place in the A-Sun at 7-1 with UCF's (17-5, 7-0 A-Sun) 3-2 victory over Georgia State (24-6, 7-1 A-Sun) on Friday, Oct. 31, pending the Bulldogs' match this afternoon with fourth-place Florida Atlantic (11-12, 5-2 A-Sun) and UCF's match with Mercer (10-15, 5-2 A-Sun). The Dolphins have two conference tilts remaining, against UCF and Florida Atlantic, that will decide the A-Sun regular season champion. The Golden Knights, Bulldogs and Dolphins have already clinched spots in the A-Sun Championship.

JU returns to action when it hosts UCF on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m., in Swisher Gymnasium.
