LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Amanda Youell's triple double in her first collegiate match propelled the JU volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Missouri-Kansas City to open the 2006 campaign at the Louisville Invitational.

Youell led the Dolphins with 14 kills, 21 assists while chipping in with 10 digs to help the Dolphins rally from an early 1-0 deficit.

"With so many new people in different places, the first game was tough just because we're trying to feel each other out," said JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg after claiming a win in his Dolphin debut. "We started to really do some things well in the final three games to get the win. It wasn't pretty, but it was a win and gives us some things to build on for tomorrow."

JU dropped the opening game 31-29, before rallying with back-to-back 30-25 wins in games two and three. The Dolphins put their season opener on ice with a 30-26 win in game four.

Stevenique Richardson stepped into a starting role and shined, recording 12 kills and five blocks, finishing with a .545 hitting percentage.

Una Dzalba, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, dished out 21 assists and four aces in her first match for JU. Katie Hendrian added 10 kills while Petya Borisova had a team-high 12 digs.

Lauren Stark led the Kangaroos with 13 kills, but JU forced her into 14 errors in the match.

The Dolphins wrap up their first road trip of the season with a doubleheader on Saturday. JU opens against host #12 Louisville followed with a match against defending Ohio Valley Conference Champion Jacksonville State.
