Sept. 30, 2006
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU volleyball team bounced back from a tough loss on Friday night to sweep Bethune-Cookman, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins (8-9) have now won four of their five matches at home this season. Unfortunately, the Dolphins aren't at home again for another three weeks as they enter Atlantic Sun Conference play next weekend.
"This was a good win for us today to keep our momentum going," said JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg. "Now we're turning our focus to the most important part of our schedule and conference play next weekend."
JU's offense got rolling early and often in game one, racking up 22 kills and hitting .487 to easily take the game 30-25. Richardson got six of her kills in the game to set the JU tempo early.
In game two, the JU defense got going - holding Bethune to just eight kills and a .037 hitting percentage while the Dolphins got 14 kills to take game two in a rout, 30-20.
In the final game, JU ran away with the game, taking it 30-18. The Dolphins held Bethune to just seven kills, while getting 13 kills to finish off the match. Stoilova got rolling in the final frame, getting three kills to ice the match.
Bethune was led by Danielle Goodrum's seven kills while Ariane Guy led both teams with 10 digs.
JU opens A-Sun play on Thursday at East Tennessee State before playing Kennesaw State on Saturday.
