KENNESAW, Ga. - Sara Bendorf had 14 kills to the lead the JU volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Kennesaw State in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday.

The Dolphins (9-10, 1-1 A-Sun) used a balanced attack, with a strong offensive and defensive effort, as they bounced back from a tough loss to ETSU on Thursday.

"It was good for us to come back today and get an important conference win," said JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg. "We did a better job of executing and played with more of an edge today."

JU opened the match by scoring the first eight points en route to an easy 30-19 win in game one. The Owls (1-16, 0-4 A-Sun) were held to just seven kills as the Dolphins defense set the tone early.

The Dolphins took the final two games by identical 30-25 scores to win the match. JU did enough on offense, getting 28 kills in the two games, combined with a strong defensive effort that held the Owls to less than .160 hitting percentage in both games.

Melissa Merchant and Katie Hendrian had four blocks apiece in the win for JU, while Shelley Walroth had a match-high 17 digs. Una Dzalba dished out 19 assists.

Kennesaw State was led by Lindsay Plotner's nine kills, while no Owl was able to record double figures in digs.

The Dolphins are back in action again on Saturday as they face crosstown rival UNF in the renewal of the SunTrust River City Rumble. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
