AT&T presents the JUSN weekly chat
AT&T presents a special JUSN chat during the men's basketball game Tuesday night at Savannah State. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. and Joel Lamp will be taking your questions 30 minutes prior to tip off and throughout the game.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: 6:20 p.m. - Greetings from Savannah, Ga. as the AT&T presents this special JUSN Chat during tonight's game.

The Dolphins face Savannah State in the second half of this doubleheader with Savannah State and Coastal Carolina facing off in the women's game. Thus the late tipoff, which means we'll be lucky to start at 8 p.m.

I'm here and ready to take your questions, so feel free to post them. I've got some pregame duties to handle, so it may not be an immediate answer, but I'll get to at soon as possible.

I'll be keeping a running log during the game, as well as answering your questions. Be sure to listen in to the game on 1010XL as Barry Milligan will be calling the action, starting with the Bono's pregame show.

John (Jacksonville): How is the team's confidence after the four game winning streak and being on top of the conference? I have been impressed with their improved shooting and playing as a team lately.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: I tell you the team's confidence is really high right now.

I saw a big difference in the way we came out in the second half againt Stetson and we've been rolling since then.

The game at Kennesaw might have been the most complete game we've played in Cliff's three seasons here.

Matt (Columbia): What's the matchup(s) against USC Upstate going to be like this weekend? And any travel concerns with the reports of possible winter weather this weekend in the Palmetto State?
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We've got another week before we head to South Carolina Upstate. After tonight, we've got to make the long drive down state road 9A to face UNF.

Jeff (Jacksonville): Joel: Before basketball tips off, what's the early forecast for JU Baseball this spring? The schedule looks challenging as always. Who will be the stalwarts of the team this season?
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Great question Jeff and I think the baseball coaches would like to know as well.

There a ton of new faces that will be in the lineup this year as opposed to last year. We've got a very talented pitching staff that is expected to step up for us.

It will be an interesting start to the season and we'll find out a lot about this team in the first three weeks of the season.

Bill (Lake City): Who makes the basketball schedule? Do the coaches or is it like football where the AD does it?
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Bill, the men's basketball schedule is handled by the coaches in association with the AD. They work together to try to get us the best "money" games we can get as well as trying to get a name team to play us at home.

I know Alan and Cliff are working on getting that done, but nothing is signed yet.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We're 24 minutes away from tipoff...and about 10 minutes from going on the air. I've got to run for a few minutes, but I'll be back to give you some tidbits and answer your questions in a few minutes.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We're about five minutes from tipoff as we're now on the air and provided my always insightful comments with Barry on the broadcast.

One of the biggest things that we have to avoid is a letdown from the Mercer win. There is a lot to play for tonight - a chance to get to .500, a chance to win a fifth in a row, an opportunity to get revenge for a loss here a year ago.

There is a great crowd here and this is a going to be a good test for us in preparation for a hostile crowd at UNF on Saturday.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Same starters for the Dolphins - Ben Smith, Evan Jefferson, Ayron Hardy, Lehmon Colbert and Marcus Allen.

This is a game that our post players are going to be tested because Savannah State plays such a hectic style and they crash the boards from every direction. Boxing out their man is going to be important.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: While we've got a moment...I would be remiss if I didn't mention how well the women's team has played of late. A 4-0 start in the league is quite good and puts them in position to capitalize on being picked to win the A-Sun.

They play at UNF on Saturday as well...tipping off the SunTrust River City Rumble doubleheader at 2 p.m.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: The SSU pa announcer - "The Tigers haven't been at home since Jan. 4 and they are hungry!"

They are going to come out ready to play tonight...our boys better be ready for a strong test.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Ok...tip time...let's go Fins!!!
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: SSU gets the first possession - JU takes a charge...good start.

SSU presses off the turnover and JU will be facing this constant pressure all night.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Ayron Hardy knocks down a challenged 3...and the JU press creates a turnover.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: SSU gets a stop as Marcus can't make the layup...the Tigers race up the floor and get a layup.

Evan Jefferson steps out of bounds for another turnover...not a smart play there.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: SSU hits a 3...Marcus Allen telling him to shoot and he does.

Evan comes back with a 3...JU 6, SSU 5.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: The Tigers answer with a three from Joseph Flegler...the Dolphins have got to get out on their shooters because they are dangerous.

Marcus gets an offensive foul on an illegal screen, but Simon gets a block on the break.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Another offensive foul on SSU...this game is going to be tightly called as physical as it is.

Jefferson hits another 3 to put JU up 1.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: 15:14 left in the 1st, JU 9, SSU 8.

Big stop for the Dolphins, who when they get in sync on offense have been good. We've gotten good shots when we are patient and work our offense, we're OK. Our problem is we're trying to get something too fast and we're turning it over on moving screens and bad passes.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: I like the intensity we're playing with on defense...other than the last 3 pointer, we've challenged all their shots.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: I will say this...the Tigers are subbing like a hockey team, sending a new 5 on the floor.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Another offensive foul on Simon...JU gets a stop and the ball back trailing by 2...TOUCHDOWN MARCUS ALLEN!!! Layup for Marcus beating the press over the top.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Dolphins get a stop in transition...to bring us to the under 12 timeout.

11:36, JU 11, SSU 10

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: A sloppy first nine minutes...5 turnovers for JU, 6 for SSU.

The Dolphins do have four field goals and all of them have assists...that is the team ball that we saw at Kennesaw and is what we need the rest of the year.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Paul Kohlheim skies for an offensive rebound and is fouled on the putback...I really like his athleticism.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: 5 in a row for the Tigers as Patrick Hardy hits a 3...it's a long distance shootout at Tiger Arena.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Marcus ties the game at 15 with a 3...JU has hit four 3's in the first 10 minutes.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: The two teams have each hit 4 treys here early...perimeter defense is missing right now.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: SSU gets a fifth 3...Chris Linton on the wing.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: There must be something in the water here...and SSU has gotten a lot of confidence early.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Travis Cohn goes to work in the post and hits a shot off the glass to cut the deficit to one.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Foul trouble for the JU bench - Aric Brooks and Szymon Lukasiak each have two fouls.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Anthony Jones hits a 3 for SSU...their fifth trey of the half.

This is eerily reminisent of last year's game here. SSU got hot early, took a big lead and held off a late rally.

I don't think I can go through a late rally again. Saturday was enough to last me for a while.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: The key on defense is get to them to shoot some 2s...they just airballed a 15-footer.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We've got to take better care of the basketball...Steal by Ben...layup is good...Colbert for 3 after a steal by Evan...rims out.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We're not playing with a lot of energy right now.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Another turnover....eight for the Dolphins in 14 minutes.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Travel on Lehmon...a ninth turnover...we can't keep just giving them possessions for free.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Just two points for the Dolphins in the past 3:30.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: We're quite fortunate to only be down six...make that 9...a sixth 3.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: 4:20 left in the half...SSU leads 28-19.

Coach Bruce said it best entering the timeout called by Coach Warren..."You got what you wanted...you're in a dogfight now."

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: SSU is on a 10-2 run right now.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: 12-4 run as the teams match baskets.

3:29 left...the under 4 timeout...SSU 30, JU 21.

We've been a second half team all season, but you can't rely on that to happen every game. You've got to play the entire 40 minutes and once again, we've given up a big run in the first half to put us in a hole.

But, we're going to make a run...it's just a question of when and I don't believe it will be too late.

We have given them a ton of confidence shooting the ball and nobody on their side thinks they can miss right now.

Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Good ball movement...good execution results in a Smith 3-pointer. SSU 30, JU 24...3:01 1st...injury timeout as Joel Davila is hurt for the Tigers.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: BTW, feel free to fire any questions in during the game.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Back to action now...3:01 left in the half.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: The Tigers are perfect at the charity stripe...5-5.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Make it 6-for-6.
Joel Lamp, JUDolphins.com Editor: Marcus steps out of bounds...the 11
