Dolphins go early to avoid the weather on Tuesday, prepping for Thursday scrimmage
With Hurricane Fay making its way towards the First Coast, the JU football team had an early scrimmage on Tuesday morning.

The Dolphins worked out for a little over two hours, with live action for most of the session.

“We had a good scrimmage today and made some progress,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “Our new guys continue to make strides and get better as they get more comfortable with our system.

“The one constant that we’ve had all through camp is competition. That is what I love about this camp right now, we have competition at every position and it is pushing everyone to get better.”

JU will begin game week preparation after the final scrimmage of preseason camp on Thursday at 5 p.m. at D.B. Milne Field, should the weather cooperate.

On Friday, the Dolphins will have their final two-a-day practice to begin game-week preparation for the season opener at Savannah State.

“This final scrimmage will be a great gauge to see where we are at and who is going to be on the bus when we go to Savannah,” Bell said. “It’s going to be our last scrimmage and gives these guys one last chance to show us that they should be going on the trip with us.”
