Ramak Niakan safi named Atlantic Sun Offensive “Player of the Week”
Senior midfielder Ramak Niakan safi was named Atlantic Sun Conference Offensive “Player of the Week” after scoring two goals and adding an assist to lift the JU men’s soccer team past Presbyterian, 3-0, on Sept. 12 at the addias/Gamecock Classic.
“I’m really happy for Remmy,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “Heading into the season, we expected him to be goal producer. Remmy had the two goals against Presbyterian and played well against South Carolina, despite not scoring. Hopefully, he can use this as motivation and continue this play down the stretch for us.”
Against the Blue Hose, Niakan safi scored the game-winning goal less than 14 minutes into the match on a pass from senior defender Philipp Meyner. He scored an unassisted goal at the 51st minute to give the Dolphins a commanding 2-0 lead and would share the love less than three minutes later with a pass to set up senior forward Sebastian Lindholm’s first goal of the season.
The Dolphins return to action on Sunday as they travel to face Georgia Southern at 3 p.m. in their only match of the week.
