Women’s cross country wins Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational
The JU women’s cross country team continues to stay hot as the Dolphins won the Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational on Saturday morning in Macon, Ga.

The Dolphins earned their third overall victory in four meets with 52 points and held off conference rival Kennesaw State (95) on the site of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, which will be run in November.

“It’s always nice to get a team victory,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “Overall, our purpose today was to get familar with the course for the conference championship in November. We look forward to improving each week as the season goes on.”

Sophomore Susanne Klungtveit (18:37-4th), junior Elsabeth Goshu (18:38-5th) and junior Alyssa Deal (18:49-6th) each finished in the top 10 to pace the Dolphins. Junior Alison Ritter finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th place with a time of 19:08.

Sophomore Anastasia Fokina, who competed in her first meet coming back from injury, ran well for the Dolphins, while sophomore Kelli Midden (26th) and junior Tiffanie Saxton (44th) rounded out the rest of the JU runners to cap off the good day.

The Dolphins will run again on Friday, October 17, as they travel to compete in the Sodexho Stetson Invitational in DeLand, Fla.
