Cross country runs in Sodexho Stetson Invitational on Friday
After a few weeks off to train, the JU women’s and men’s cross country squads will be back in action on Friday as the Dolphins travel to DeLand, Fla. for the Sodexho Stetson Invitational.

This will be the final regular-season meet for both teams prior to the Atlantic Sun Championships in November.

“The Stetson race will be a final tune up before the A-Sun Championships,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “Given our training to date, I expect that we will compete with confidence.”

The women’s team continued to stay hot in their last meet as they won the Mercer RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga. on Sept. 27.

The Dolphins earned their third overall victory in four meets with 52 points and held off conference rival Kennesaw State (95) on the eventual site of the A-Sun Championship.

Sophomore Susanne Klungtveit (18:37-4th), junior Elsabeth Goshu (18:38-5th) and junior Alyssa Deal (18:49-6th) each finished in the top 10 to pace the Dolphins. Junior Alison Ritter finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th place with a time of 19:08.

For their efforts, the Dolphins were voted to the second spot in the A-Sun coaches’ polls on Oct. 2 and Oct. 16.

On the men’s side, the pair of sophomore Dylan Kosten and senior Clay Garrett led the Dolphins in their last meet on Sept. 6.
