Men's tennis drops match to Embry-Riddle, 7-0
The JU men’s tennis team struggled against Embry-Riddle as they were swept 7-0 in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Wednesday.

The Dolphins (0-2) could never find any momentum against a tough Eagles (4-1) side, dropping two doubles matches 8-4 and 8-2, before falling in the singles portion of the match.

“We went in knowing it was going to be tough,” said JU Head Coach Shane Wood. “Embry-Riddle is a great team, and we knew that to win it would take one of the best games of the year from each of our guys.”

The doubles pair of freshman Pitt Von Oertzen and senior Victor Vaz pulled in the only victory for JU as they won their match, 8-6. The best two singles results for the Dolphins came from No. 3 freshmen Hector Garcia Aguilar, who lost (6-4, 7-6) and No. 5 Pitt Von Oertzen (6-3, 6-4).

The Dolphins are back on the court next Wednesday when they host Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m.
