Men’s tennis gets first A-Sun win of the season over Belmont, 5-2
The JU men’s tennis team fought through a doubles point loss to take five of their six singles matches in a victory over Belmont, 5-2.

The Dolphins (4-6, 1-2 A-Sun) won all of their singles matches in straight sets with their only loss coming in three sets.

“We played so well today, our guys should be very happy,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “It’s always nice to get a win like this and hopefully we can do the same tomorrow.”

After losing all three doubles matches, the Dolphins rebounded to take the Nos. 1-4 matches while only dropping the No. 5 contest. Victor Vaz made quick work of his match (6-3, 6-4) and Jaime Esteban and Logan Shalmi took care of their opponents in straight sets. The lone loss for the Dolphins came in the No. 5 match as Pitt von Oertzen lost in three sets.

The Dolphins will face Lipscomb in Friday’s rescheduled match tomorrow at 9 a.m.
