JU men’s tennis drops season finale at UNF, 6-1
The JU men’s tennis team closed out its regular season with a 6-1 loss at the hands of rival UNF in the SunTrust River City Rumble.

The Dolphins (9-11, 4-6 A-Sun) will now face Campbell in the first round of the A-Sun tournament after all six seeds were clinched yesterday.

“It’s always disappointing to lose to your rival,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “We’re going to have to look past this and get ready for the tournament next weekend.”

JU dropped the doubles point, unable to win a match in the opener against the Osprey’s (16-7, 7-3). The best performance for the Dolphins came in the No. 1 match with Chema Fantova and Hector Garcia as the pair took the match to a tie-break but fell 8-7 (4).

In singles action, Fantova produced the sole win for the Dolphins as he defeated Hleb Maslau, 6-4, 4-0, as the rest of the side was retired in straight sets.

The Dolphins will head south to Stetson for the conference tournament next weekend against Campbell. In their previous meeting, JU fell, 5-2, to the Camels.
