Men's tennis places three on postsesaon all-conference lists
The JU men’s tennis team has received three postseason honors from the A-Sun with senior Victor Vaz receiving first team all-conference honors and freshmen Jose Fantova and Hector Garcia receiving all-freshman team accolades.

Vaz paced the Dolphins during regular season play in the No. 1 position for all but two matches. At the start of conference play, the Brazilian native won eight matches in a row, including victories versus FGCU, Belmont, Lipscomb, Mercer and Kennesaw State. Nine of Vaz’s 15 wins this season have come in straight sets.

“Victor’s had a great career here at JU,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “He helped us so much this year knowing that we were always going to be in contention for the No. 1 game.”

Fantova and Garcia join Vaz on the postseason list after strong freshmen season's. Fantova, a unanimous choice, went 14-6 on the year, primarily in the No. 2 position while Garcia posted an 11-8 record at No. 3.

“We have a lot to look forward to with these two guys,” said Wood. “They played awesome all year and they’re only going to get better.”

The Dolphins (9-11, 4-6 A-Sun) will face Campbell tomorrow in the A-Sun Tournament. Earlier this season, JU fell to the Camels, 5-2.
