Men's tennis ends season in A-Sun quarterfinals with loss to Campbell, 4-1
The JU men’s tennis team’s season ended today with a 4-1 loss at the hands of Campbell in the quarterfinals of the A-Sun Tournament in DeLand, Fla.

The Dolphins (8-11, 4-4) were unable to grab the doubles point with losses in all three matches as the team of Pitt von Oertzen and Victor Vaz posted the most competitive score of the opener in the No. 3 spot, 8-4.

“This was a difficult match for us,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “We ran up against a strong team and we knew it was going to be tough. All things aside, I’m really proud of the way our team played this year.”

Freshman Logan Shalmi took a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles over Ondrej Kralik to put the Dolphins on the board, 2-1, but the Camels closed out the victory with three straight, two-set victories.

The Dolphins received three postseason honors from the A-Sun this year. Senior Victor Vaz received first team all-conference honors and freshmen Jose Fantova and Hector Garcia garnered all-freshman team accolades.
