Women's soccer falls to UNC Wilmington
Sept. 16, 2007
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Dolphins' fell to UNC Wilmington on Sunday by the score of 4-0 in the Cougar Classic.
"This weekend was an unfortunate eye opener of how far we are from being a quality team," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "There was a total absence of competitiveness and heart which is the basis of any good team. Although we showed it against Indiana and Baylor, the fact we could not rise to meet a single challenge today against a tough UNC Wilmington team is really a concern with the conference opener so close!"
Forward Jenny Cauble scored twice for UNC Wilmington, with Ashley Church and Nicole Panek also getting on the score sheet. Church also had Emma Reed also added assists for the Seahawks.
Freshman goalkeeper Lorna Brownlie made 18 saves, tying Renay Shock for fourth most in a single game in JU history.
The Dolphins will be in action again on Friday, taking on Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming at 4:00 p.m.
