Oct. 1, 2007
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dolphins' junior forward Keri Zwikker shares A-Sun "Player of the Week" honors after scoring two goals in each of the Dolphins' conference victories over the weekend, including the game-winner in each match.
Zwikker, one of the Dolphins' captains, now has 11 goals and four assists in just 10 games. She leads the conference in points (26), points-per-game (2.60), goals (11), goals-per-game (1.10) and also shares the conference lead in game-winning goals (3). She is now third in the nation in points-per-game. Her 11 goals are already one more then she had all of last season.
"I am very proud of Keri and our entire team," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "She has worked hard and is a tremendous team leader. She has been doing this all season and I am glad she is receiving the recognition that she deserves."
Zwikker has scored her 11 goals on only 28 shots, giving her a 39% shot percentage, despite being double-teamed on a regular basis. She was also named A-Sun "Player of the Year" in the preseason coaches' poll, the first time the award has been awarded for soccer.
Kennesaw State junior forward Caitlin Dingle, who scored four goals over the weekend including a hat-trick against Stetson, shared the award with Zwikker.
