Women's soccer falls to Stetson 2-0
Oct. 14, 2007
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU women's soccer team fell to Stetson by a score of 2-0 Sunday night at the Ashley Sports Complex.
Stetson opened the scoring in just the seventh minute, after Emily Yero was able to volley in Sarah Stock's pass off of Emily Ware's corner kick.
"We talked coming into the game about the game about the fact that Stetson wanted this game," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "They said they were looking forward to it for 340 days and were coming to play. But for the third straight conference home game, we just did not answer the bell. We are 3-0 on the road and 0-3 at home in the conference. I can't explain it but I am happy we are going on the road on Wednesday."
With the Dolphins pouring on the pressure, the Hatters were able to put the game away on the counterattack, after Tessa Gavilsky scored on a breakaway after intercepting a pass.
Freshman midfielder Jelena Vrcelj took three shots to lead the Dolphins.
The Dolphins will be in action again on Thursday, taking on Campbell at 7 p.m. in Buies Creek, N.C.
