Women’s golf finishes 15th at the Eagle Landing Invitational
The JU women’s golf team struggled in the final round of the Eagle Landing Invitational, sliding four sports to finish 15th in the 17-team event.

The Dolphins shot a 28-over par, 316, in the final round – led by Francesca Yong’s six-over par 78.

South Florida won the event, shooting an 11-over par 299 in the final round to rally for the title at 34-over par. Illinois’ Hailey Koschmann won the individual title at two-under par after a three-over par 75 in the final round.

“We didn’t play very well today, but we know what we’ve got to work on in the next few weeks,” said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley.

Yong continued to her score improvement during the week, with her 78 being the best round for her during the event. She finished tied for 71st at 24-over par.

Adding a pair of 79s to the team score was Meghan Hughes and Morgan Jackson. Hughes finished in a tie for 65th at 22-over par while Jackson was tied for 75th at 27-over par.

After the best start of her career, Jessica Williams struggled to an eight-over par 80 in the final round to tie for 24th at 14-over par. It is her best finish in a full-field event this season.

Melissa Magdor shot a 10-over par, 82, after a stellar even-par day in the second round to tie for 43rd at 17-over par.

The Dolphins are back in action this weekend at the Low Country Intercollegiate.
