Women’s golf takes fourth at the Low Country Intercollegiate
The JU women’s golf team shot rounds of 309 and 316 to finish fourth at the Low Country Intercollegiate on the par-72, Moss Creek Golf Club.

Kristen Boettcher led the Dolphins with a tie for 10th at 10-over par after rounds of 78 and 76 for her best finish in the spring schedule.

Host Western Carolina won the 14-team event with a 36-hole total of 616, topping James Madison by two shots. Augusta State’s Natalie Willie won the individual title in a playoff over Richmond’s Jillian Fraccola, finishing regulation play at five-over par.

“I’m happy with how we played, but we also let a few shots slip away today,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “We made a lot of progress this week and I’m looking forward to a strong finish.”

Boettcher’s tie for 10th is her best finish since taking second at the season-opening Lady Eagle Invitational. Her four-over par 76 in the final round is tied for her second-best round of the season.

Melissa Magdor continued her stellar play of late with a tie for 13th at 13-over par, 157. She opened the tournament with a three-over par 75, but carded a 10-over par 82 in the final round.

Jessica Williams once again shined for JU, posting rounds of 84 and 76 to just miss out on a second straight top 20 finish – tying for 21st at 16-over par, 160.

Meghan Hughes tied for 25th with teammate Francesca Yong at 17-over par, 161. Hughes posted rounds of 77 and 84 while Yong carded rounds of 79 and 82.

The Dolphins are off until March 26 when they tee it up in the Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla.
