Women’s lacrosse battles Louisville and Cincinnati this weekend
The JU women’s lacrosse team will head to the Midwest for a pair of non-conference games against Louisville and Cincinnati this weekend

The Dolphins (5-8, 3-2 NLC) will play at Louisville on Saturday at 1 p.m. before making the short trip to Cincinnati for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday.

“We’re hoping for a great weekend as a team,” said JU head coach Mindy McCord. “We’ve had a good week of practice and we’re ready for two strong opponents this weekend.”

In their last game, the Dolphins fell to NLC foe Longwood, 15-8, on the campus of Davidson. Heading into halftime with a 6-4 lead, the Dolphins looked poised to take a critical conference game over the undefeated Lancers but an early three-goal burst from Longwood signaled the beginning of the end for JU.

The Cardinals (7-5) are looking to bounce back from a two-game losing streak after falling to nationally ranked Loyola (MD) and nationally ranked Georgetown. On Sunday afternoon, the Cardinals dropped a 17-13 decision to No. 14 Georgetown. The Cardinals shut-out Georgetown during the final 27:29, and went on a 6-0 run of their own to cut the lead to four.

The Bearcats (4-7) will be in a similar position to the Dolphins as they head to South Bend, Ind. to face Notre Dame before heading back to face JU the next day. In their last game, No. 19 Ohio State scored 14 first half goals en route to a 20-5 victory over UC.
