Women’s lacrosse heads to Presbyterian for regular-season finale
The JU women’s lacrosse team will face NLC opponent Presbyterian tomorrow in Clinton, S.C. at 1 p.m. in its regular-season finale.
The Dolphins (5-10, 3-2 NLC) have clinched the third seed in next weekend’s tournament in Farmville, Va. and will play their first game against the No. 6 seed.
“We’re looking to take some momentum into the tournament,” said JU head coach Mindy McCord. “It’s really important to end the regular season on a high note and that’s what we’re hoping to do.”
In their last outing, the Dolphins fell behind early at Cincinnati and were never able to come back from the deficit, falling, 15-9. Freshman Amanda Hurley led the way with a hat trick while Brie Kitchelt and Nicole Albino each added two goals apiece.
JU is currently leading the nation in ground balls per game with 24.93 while the Presbyterian (3-11, 2-3 NLC) is following closely behind in second (24.50). Individually for the Blue Hose, Erin McBurnette is 36th in the country in ground balls per game with 2.58.
The Blue Hose are coming of a 17-3 victory over Liberty last Saturday. Brittni Dulaney tallied a game-high six points with three goals and three assists. Kirstin Stenoien and Katie Prisco each had two goals and two assists. Eleven Presbyterian players scored a point in the contest.
