Men's lacrosse looking for final home win against Rutgers
The JU men’s lacrosse team will look to make it a perfect 5-0 at the Ashley Sports Complex on Saturday when it hosts Rutgers at noon.

The Dolphins (4-6) are coming off a difficult three-game road swing that resulted in losses to No. 18 Bucknell, Robert Morris and No. 7 Duke.

“It should be a great finish to our home schedule playing an established program like Rutgers,” said JU head coach Matt Kerwick. “It will be nice to honor Joe Ciccirelli and Brad Hester on senior day and hopefully we can keep our home streak going.”

In their last outing, JU fell to a strong Duke side in Durham, N.C., 16-7. The Dolphins fought hard throughout the entire game and pulled within one goal early in the second quarter but a six-goal run from Duke proved to be too much for the Dolphins.

Senior goalie Brad Hester turned in an impressive performance on the road, saving 17 of 33 shots on goal, including nine in the second half. Freshman attackman Nick Scalzo scored twice for the green and gold while six others recorded points with two assists coming from freshman midfielder Cameron Mann.

Rutgers (5-3, 1-1 BIG EAST) dropped their last game to St. John’s last weekend, 11-10, after squandering a 9-7 lead. The Scarlet Knights outshot the Red Storm, 38-31, and claimed 14 of the 24 faceoffs.

Fans should note the field change for tomorrow’s game from D.B. Milne Field to the Ashley Sports Complex. Prior to tomorrow’s game, the team will honor seniors Joe Ciccirelli and Brad Hester as they compete in their final home matches.
