Men’s lacrosse closes out season with trip to No. 15 Hofstra
After a roller coaster inaugural season, the JU men’s lacrosse team will face one final test when it heads north to play No. 15 Hofstra tomorrow at 1 p.m.
The Dolphins (6-6) are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally in four separate offensive categories. With an average of 12.17 goals per game, JU is ninth in the country while fifth in both ground balls (36.67) and assists per game (8.0). The green and gold are averaging 20.17 points per game, good for eighth.
“This is a game that we’ve been looking forward to all year,” said JU head coach Matt Kerwick. “Hofstra is one of the top teams in the country and these are the kinds of games we want to be playing.”
Last weekend, the Dolphins recorded their first road win of the season with a convincing 17-7 victory over Presbyterian. JU went into halftime up 4-3 but unleashed an 8-1 run in the third quarter to pull away for the dominant win.
The Pride (7-4) is coming off an 11-10 CAA overtime loss at Penn State last weekend. Hofstra squandered a 7-2 second quarter lead with Penn State's Nick Dolik scoring his third goal of the game 50 seconds into the overtime period for the win.
