Men's lacrosse completes 2011 signing class
The JU men’s lacrosse team put the final touches to its 2011 recruiting class by announcing the signing of defenseman Tyler Black (Tequesta, Fla.), midfielder Jesse Noll (Inglewood, Ontario), attackman/midfielder Danny Meyer (Jupiter, Fla.), midfielder Will Vogt (Stratham, N.H.) and midfielder Dillon Zweifel (Dallas, Texas).

The five student-athletes are joined by Will Crenshaw (Suffolk, Va.), Peter Duluca (Philadelphia, Pa.), David Goldman (Baltimore, Md.), Conor Igoe (Columbus, Ohio), Robert Moore (West Islip, N.Y.), Marcus Nelson (Jacksonville, Fla.), Brendan O’Rourke (Washington, D.C.), Kyle Rebman (Baldwin, N.Y.) and JP Ricker (Severn, Md.) who all signed during the early signing period.

“We are excited to announce the complete class of 2014 at Jacksonville University,” said JU head coach Matt Kerwick. “This is an athletic and hard working group of leaders from all over the country. The competition this fall will be fierce at each position and our depth will be key to our success with our top flight schedule we have put together. We are eager to get back on the field and build on our inaugural season.”

Black (6-1, 180), a defenseman from Jupiter High School, received 2010 high school All-America honors during his final season while leading his team in groundballs (126) and scoring 13 goals and 15 assists. He also earned first team all-district accolades in 2009 and 2010.

Meyer (6-2, 200), an attackman/midfielder from Jupiter Christian School, scored 64 goals and 25 assists during his senior season, receiving first team All-America accolades. Meyer also gained first team all-state honors as a defensive end on Jupiter Christian’s football team.

Noll (6-0, 170), a midfielder from Mayfield Secondary School is a four-time Edge Lacrosse participant, a league representing some of the best players Ontario has to offer, and a winner of the 2010 Dick’s Tournament of Champions in Florida. Noll received “Most Valuable Player” honors at the Schuman’s National Undercalssmen Lacrosse Combine in New Jersey and captained his varsity lacrosse team in 2010, reaching the provincial finals in two of the last three years. The Ontario native was also an assistant captain on Mayfield’s hockey team and was selected to “Team Ontario” while playing football.

Vogt (5-11, 165), a midfielder from Exeter High School, gained first team all-state honors as a junior after scoring 26 goals and 29 assists. Vogt was also a member of the U-19 New Hampshire Tomahawks, winners of the King of the Hill Tournament in 2009. The New Hampshire native also competed on Exeter’s varsity hockey team for two years.

Zweifel (5-11, 185), a midfielder from Highland Park High School is currently attending The Loomis Chaffee School where played in the 2008 and 2009 state lacrosse finals. Zweifel received district championship “Offensive MVP” in 2009 and was a state finalist in 2008 while playing football.
