The JU women’s basketball team added some scoring punch for next season as the Dolphins announced the transfer of junior college guard Crystal Bell (5-8, Ft. Pierce, Fla.) for the 2010-11 season.

Bell, who spent the last two years at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Fla., joins forward/center Jane’l Osborne (6-0, Riverdale, Ga.), center Jenae Wilson (6-1, Saint Petersburg, Fla.), guard Jade Cargill (5-9, Vero Beach, Fla.) and center Madison Scott (6-2, Atlanta, Ga.) who each inked with the program during the fall.

At BCC, Bell averaged 20 points and six rebounds a game, while also adding five steals, three assists and two blocks a contest. For her efforts, she earned first team all-conference and All-America honors. Bell also reached the JUCC all-star game as a freshman.

“Crystal is a strong slashing guard that has a scorer’s mentality and the ability to rebound the basketball,” JU head coach Jill Dunn. “We are extremely excited about her potential and thrilled that she will be a part of our program for the next two years.”

Bell averaged more than 15 points a contest as a two-year starter at John Carrol Catholic High School and Westwood High School. As a senior at John Carrol Catholic, she was named first team all-conference, while also earning the defensive and offensive “Player of the Year” after averaging 20 points and seven steals.
