Rowing opens spring by hosting Emory & Stetson on Saturday
After a very successful fall which included the Men’s Varsity 8 going undefeated, the JU rowing teams will return to the water for the first time in spring as the Dolphins host Emory and Stetson, Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Negaard Rowing Center.

JU, which tallied 26 medals during the fall season, will have 11 boats competing (six men, five women) in an eight-event format.

“This race is more of an early season scrimmage which will allow us to see what kind of early speed we have against other crews before heading into our spring break training camp,” said JU director of rowing Jim Mitchell. “We look forward to hosting Emory and Stetson at the Negaard Rowing Center.”

The day will open with the Men’s 8’s at 8 a.m., the Women’s Varsity 8 will go at 8:20 a.m., followed by the Men’s Novice 4 (8:50 a.m.), Men’s Varsity 4 (9:15 a.m.), Women’s Varsity 4 (9:30 a.m.), Men’s Novice 4 (10 a.m.) and a second round of the Men’s 8’s run to conclude things at 10:15 a.m.
