Rowing ready for SIRA’s this weekend
After claiming its dominance in the state of Florida for the fourth straight year, the JU rowing program prepares to compete in the Southeast Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regatta on Saturday and Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The Men’s Novice 4 with coxswain Sarah Moore, Charles Cooke, Andrew Lippert, Brian Tye and Jesse Brantman will compete at 8:49 a.m. in Heat 4 against Florida State, Washington, Tampa and Ohio State. The top three finishers will go to the AB Semifinal while the remainder of the finishers competes in the C Semifinal.

The Men’s Freshman 8 consisting of coxswain Emma Allen, Adrian Perez-Siam, Jake Ruffalo, Art Pareene, Greg VanOekel, Bernard Vingillis, Evan Schnitker, Pat Mahon and Korkies Cabrera will compete at 9:24 a.m. in Heat 2 against NC State, Vanderbilt, UNC, Michigan State and Murray State. The top three finishers will go to the AB Semifinal while the remainder of the finishers competes in the C Semifinal.

The Men’s Junior Varsity 8 with coxswain Dan Moore, Rich Kelly Kevin Friedlander, Wayne Reichard, Chris Ottie, Tucker Smoot, Parker Lawler, Luke Bauman and Nick Spitzer will go at 9:45 a.m. in Heat 1 against Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Marietta and Texas. The top finisher earns a spot in the Final while the remainder of the finishers competes in the Repechage.

The Women’s Varsity 8 with coxswain Jamie Goldstein, Allison Sobiech, Danielle Fournier, Jenna Barker, Jill Carmody, Kelly Burke, Marina Arishina, Emily Close and Mary Mosier will compete at 12:12 p.m. in Heat 1 against Indiana, SMU, Alabama and Oklahoma. The top two finishers will earn a spot in the Final while the remainder of the finishers competes in the Repechage.

The Men’s Varsity 8 with coxswain Tom Richards, Andy Davis, Dylan Kosten, Erich Negaard, Sebastian Kuhn, Issac LaCount, Isaiah LaCount, Tyler Humphrey and John Gerety will go at 12:26 p.m. in Heat 1 against LSU, Ohio State Purdue, Deleware and Clemson. The top three finishers will compete in the AB Semifinal while the remainder of the finishers will compete in the C Semifinal.

The Women’s Junior Varsity 8 with coxswain Leigh Taylor, Jenna Manis, Candace Barber, Jamie Dunlap, Abby Sierigk, Morgan McTiernan, Brooke Reemsnyder, Julia Fairchild and Karly Greer will take to the water at 3:19 p.m. in Heat 2 against Kansas State, Purdue, Oklahoma and Ohio. The top three finishers will go to the A Final while the remainder of the finishers competes in the B Final.

The Women’s Novice 4 consisting of coxswain Savannah Rice, Cassie McaLellan, Whitney Mathews, Molly Dutilly and Adrienne Santos will compete in its Open A Final on Sunday at 9:06 a.m. against Kansas State, Purdue, Oklahoma and Tulsa.
