Women’s soccer looks for victory at Campbell
The JU women’s soccer team will look for a win on the road this Thursday when it takes on Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. at 7 p.m.

The Dolphins (6-6-2, 3-1-2 A-Sun) returned home last weekend with two points after two hard-fought matches against Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson.

Against the Eagles, freshman midfielder Becca Massip scored her second goal of the season in the 81st minute on a great ball from redshirt-sophomore midfielder Liz Fink. Massip’s goal tied the game at 1-1.

The team battled through the elements on Sunday against Stetson for a 2-2 draw. Leading the Dolphins was a pair of freshmen, both tallying goals in the game. Forward Eva Leeper opened the Dolphins’ account with a quick goal in the fourth minute and forward Lisa Hensley would score in the 16th minute with both players’ also recording assists.

“This is a big game for us,” said head coach Brian Copham. “Campbell has been on a roll and they don’t give up many goals. We’re going to have to be prepared mentally and physically for the challenge.”

The Dolphins have played their first six games of conference competition with just a single loss, a streak that hasn’t been matched since 2002.

In Campbell’s last time out (9-6-0, 4-2-0), the Camels downed USC Upstate, 2-1, in Spartanburg, S.C. The win was Campbell's eighth by a one-goal margin this season. Campbell has also won three straight - all one-goal decisions.

Sophomore defender Marisa Muller won A-Sun “Player of the Week” accolades last week as she helped organize a defense that allowed just one goal over two games and scored the game-winner in Saturday's 2-1 decision at USC Upstate.

The Dolphins will play at 7 p.m. on Thursday night and will then turn back around to prepare to host Monday’s SunTrust River City Rumble matchup against cross-town rival UNF.
