Micah Ross was part of a state championship basketball team at Andrew Jackson High School in 1993. These days, he's back on the hardwood as he was recently named as the head boys basketball coach at the brand new Atlantic Coast High School which will open in the fall.
Ross will also be an assistant football coach for the Stingrays. He has spent the last 3 years teaching and coaching at Fleming Island High School, but this year will be his first opportunity as a head coach.
Upon graduating from Jackson High School, Micah played basketball for four years at Jacksonville University. He also played one season of football there.
After that, he played one season with the Jacksonville Barracudas of the United States Basketball League. Then came a one-year stint with the Jacksonville Tomcats of Arena Football 2.
In 2001, Ross played in the last five games for the Jaguars. He stuck with the team for the entire 2002 season then was cut during the 2003 season. He played the rest of that season with the San Diego Chargers then finished his career with the Carolina Panthers.
To this day, Micah Ross is the first and only former JU football player to make his way onto an NFL roster.
