#24 JU ready for Morehead State trip
The JU football team will take the field for the first time as a ranked team this Saturday when they travel to face Morehead State in a key Pioneer Football League matchup.

Kickoff for the 24th ranked Dolphins is set for 2 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1010XL with Barry Milligan calling the action. Coverage starts with the Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show at 1:30 p.m.

JU (7-1, 5-0 PFL) is one win away from tying the longest winning streak in program history, which was set by the 2008 squad that won its last seven games en route to the PFL title.

“The things we’ve stressed to the guys all season is that if you come ready to work Tuesday thru Thursday, then the game on Saturday will take care of itself,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “We had a good week of practice and the guys know that there is a lot on the line.”

With the country’s top-ranked offense in tow, the Dolphins will fly up on Saturday morning for the game – the third and final “air raid” trip of the season.

While being famous for its high-flying aerial assault, Jacksonville features a balanced offensive attack. The Dolphins are 18th nationally in rushing offense (206.0 yards per game) and fifth nationally in passing offense (300.0 yards per game).

That equals to the country’s highest-ranked offense (506.0 yards per game) as well as the highest-scoring team in the land, averaging 43.5 points per game.

“Our goal every game is to have a balanced attack,” Bell said. “Last week, we were able to do a lot in the running game and that carried us. Other weeks, our passing attack has moved the ball well. We want to find the best matchups for us and get the ball in the hands of our playmakers as much as possible.”
