JU wraps up road trip at Auburn
After celebrating Thanksgiving, the JU men’s basketball team is back to business as they travel to face Auburn on Saturday night.

Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. (EST), with the game being broadcast on 1010XL with Barry Milligan calling the action.

Jacksonville (3-1) has rebounded from a loss at Miami in the season opener to win three in a row, the longest non-conference winning streak in the Cliff Warren era.

The latest was a defensive masterpiece in which Samford’s deadly shooting starting five hit just 3-of-20 from the floor and was 0-for-11 from behind the arc. The Dolphins pressure forced 21 turnovers, which they cashed in for 20 points.

“I was really pleased with our defensive effort against Samford,” Warren said. “We did a good job of pressuring the ball the length of the floor and really never let them get comfortable.”

Auburn (1-3) is coming off of a 68-66 win over Middle Tennessee State, snapping a three-game losing streak to open the state-of-the-art Auburn Arena.

The Tigers have owned a +10 advantage on the boards on average, but have turned the ball over an average of 16 times per game.

“Auburn is going to be a tough test for us,” Warren said. “We’re trying to get better each day and this is the next opportunity for us.”

Russell Powell has taken his game to a new level the last two games, setting new career high scoring marks in each game – leading the Dolphins with 15 points in the win over Samford.
